Making A Smoothie The Whole Family Can Enjoy

PinkSmoothieThere’s no better way for your family to start the day than with a fresh blended fruit smoothie. Plus a smoothie recipe doesn’t need to be exact, so it’s super easy to get the kids involved in the making. The best ingredients are always whatever fresh fruits and veggies are most loved, and in season. But when you see a banana turning black don’t throw it away! Instead, peel it and cut it into chucks and pop it in the freezer…it will make a frosty, creamy addition to your next smoothie. This yummy recipe can be served as a snack or a quick meal. Each “handful” in the directions measures somewhere between a third of a cup and a half cup. The best part? The concoction includes vitamin rich greens — and your kids will love it anyway!

To a blender, add:

1 handful of blueberries
1 handful of blackberries
1 handful of pineapple
1 handful of strawberries
1 handful of spinach
1 handful of papaya
A few sprigs of fresh mint
½ frozen ripe banana
½ cup of greek yogurt
1 cup of coconut milk or coconut water (to preferred consistency)
1 tbsp flax seed
1 tbsp of gaia seed
1 tbsp of agave or coconut molasses to sweeten, if desired

Blend on medium speed until smooth. Serves 2. Cheers to health!
