Haute Mommy of the Nike Run SF: Angelique Noire, The Black Pinup


This gorgeous model, spokeswoman, entrepreneur, and mommy and has been a close friend of mine for many years. We have raised kids together. We have been there for each other when we shared triumphs and faced obstacles. Now she is one of my Haute Mommy Club participants in the 10th Annual Nike Women’s Run in San Francisco supporting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I am so honored that she trusts me enough to say yes to something before we even really knew what we were getting ourselves into. LOL. She did admit she wanted to choke me once we found out. Thankfully she has an extreme case of commitment so since she already agreed to participate, there was no turning back! She has been such a trooper. And so damn focused that she has out run not only our Haute Mommy Club group but most of the runner’s invited by Nike! This chick is a natural at running, although she had never ran in her entire life until this past August when we began training for the run in October.

I thought it would be great to introduce some of my crew to all of you and give you a little inside on who they are and what they are like. Nothing better than a Q&A to let my crew tell it like it is. I have thoroughly enjoyed running along side “The Black Pinup”. She is always such a brilliant light force of positivity and laughter. I am absolutely thrilled to have Anesha as a friend and also to share the crazy world of mommy hood with her. And now we can add marathon running to our resume missy!!! BOOM!

1. How do you keep in shape?
As of recently, I would say jogging. Prior to August, had I been asked this same question, I would have said that I did nothing.

2. What’s your favorite type of exercise?

3. How often do you workout?
4-5 times a week to train for the Nike half marathon.

4. Why did you say yes to Nike Women’s RUN SF?
For many years I have talked about how I should start working out, but I lacked motivation being that naturally look athletic without any effort. When Haute Mommy Club was invited to participate in the Nike Women’s Run, I at first thought that there was no way on Earth I could go from doing nothing, to participating in a half marathon in less than 12 weeks. Then I thought, that this could be my motivation to not only do something for a good cause, but also be very beneficial for my health. Hopefully, when all the training is done, and I complete the marathon, I hope that I will have developed the habit to continue working out.

5. What goals have you set for yourself while training for this run?
Just to finish whatever miles I have set to do that day.

6. Have you changed your eating habits for this run?
Not really. I don’t drink alcohol, so at no point has that been a sacrifice.  I now can easily knock out almost a gallon of water per day. I continue to eat pasta or rice dishes regularly with my 1-2 meal options of burritos, burgers, or pizza each week. During training, I am taking more supplements too…just a prenatal vitamin and Glucosamine Chondroitin.

7. How often do you think to yourself, “What did I sign up for?”
EVERYDAY I HAVE TO TRAIN DOING 5 OR MORE MILES….but now it’s cool when I can think how happy I am to “just” do 3 miles, when prior to August 5th, the most I had ever run were 4miles once in my life.

8. When you are in a negative place, how do you pull yourself out of it and gain positivity?
I pray,  watch my favorite movies, dance, do crafts…I do whatever makes me happy. Now, I can add jogging to my list…2 miles are sufficient.

9. Would you continue to keep the same schedule after the run is over on Oct 20th?
My schedule varies, but I now know that I have the ability to make time to exercise at least 4times per week. I don’t think I will force myself to do more than 5 miles on a regular basis though.

10. How has NIKE improved the quality of your training and running?
Being that I started from zero, Nike gave me the motivation I needed to start training.  At first, I had no reason to buy Nike because I didn’t work out. After receiving all kinds of goodies from them, now that’s the brand I seek out to buy. I also enjoy how I feel part of a community of runners. I love that I have the option to go train with the Nike Running Club or Nike Training Club at the Grove. Training for Nike has also given me more bonding time with my fellow Haute Mommies who are also participating in the half marathon with me.

11. What is your favorite NIKE tool you have used throughout this experience that you cannot live without?
I would have to say my Nike Fuel band. I wear it all the time. It is a great conversation piece because every time I push the button to read the information, it catches peoples’ attention. Men and women say how cool they think it looks, and then begin to ask me what it does. After show and tell, I continue to ramble off the story behind how I got it and that I am running my first half marathon for Nike. I feel like I am a walking advertisement for Nike :)

12. How has NIKE helped you to keep running?
I enjoy NikePlus.com because it keeps track of all my activity that I measure with my Nike tools. I think I am addicted to all the digital awards I get from the goals I meet :)
