Back to School Essentials
Toddlers & Teens
Since the time has come to say HOLA to school essentials I thought I would let you know why my teen and my toddler stay excited about school. Besides the fact that my toddler currently just wants to do whatever my teen does. (This is a huge problem since he physically cannot do half of what she can, obviously.)
I started getting creative about back packs and lunch boxes 5 years ago. I realized that my innate nature to always be different and an individualist has forced my teenager to follow those footsteps. We obsess over hundreds of common items that are extraordinary in design or creativity. For instance, why get a regular old calculator when you can have this one by Perpetual Kid?!
And when searching for colored pencils try these Marc Jacobs designer BOOKMARC mini colored pencils instead of those boring ones. The bonus is they come in a cute case and a sharpener! Score.
Obviously divert from regular old highlighters that are awkward to hold and see how grown ups and kids will go crazy over these! stubbypencilstudio.com has these in several different variations.
Of course we are always looking for the most amazing lunch box that ever exsisted every year. We rarely find the “good ones” at Target or Potterybarn. Try GoGreenLunchbox.com They have managed to support function, fashion, and our environment! I bought one last year for my daughter and this year I am ordering another for my toddler and Daddy!
I hope these ideas inspire you to think outside the box and don’t settle for something average for yourself or your kids this new school year. Start it off right. These small steps will add to your families diversity and character.
